Eyes like mine but not
so searching, or rather
more so than mine
he hunts single eyed
Polyphemus as a baby
no depth to his reach
only the will to fetch
that which he sees
not what he hears
two eyes as one
no stereo to confuse
nothing to use as distance
but the length of hands,
arms and stretch of shoulders
sun shadowed face
that emotes or rather
doesn’t with a blankness
no emotion bleeding
from the mouth
no smile, nor sulk
he speaks in fingers
catching fingernails
on the barrier between us
drummed as skin
taut webbing that separates
my hand and patting fingers
from his, quarter sized
touching through the web.
